Cultural heritage well-protected in Xinjiang: white paper
(ECNS) -- Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has improved its comprehensive preservation of cultural heritage, according to a white paper released on Friday by the Information Office of China's State Council.
The white paper, titled "CPC Guidelines for Governing Xinjiang in the New Era: Practice and Achievements," said that Xinjiang has formulated plans for the protection of regional cultural heritage, and released local regulations to strengthen legal guarantees for preserving cultural heritage.
By 2024, Xinjiang housed 195 cultural heritage protection institutions at all levels, was home to 150 registered museums, and possessed 9,545 verified and registered immovable cultural relics, among which six were world cultural heritage sites and 133 were key cultural relics sites under national-level protection.
The vast region also boasts three intangible cultural heritage items on the list of the UNESCO, 141 items on the national representative list and 567 items on the list of the autonomous region, according to the white paper.
